Green is best?
The Winter season is just over and I’ve been elected Smile of the Week. To be honest, I was elected last week but it was such a busy week that I didn’t find time to write my article.
Why was it a busy week? First, on Monday, we had our Staff Day Out to celebrate the end of the season. We went to Leukerbad, a municipality in the district of Leuk, in the canton of Valais. In the morning, we had fun on the 50 km of ski slopes and enjoyed the thermal baths in the afternoon. Back in Kandersteg, we got dressed nicely and had dinner in a lovely restaurant. We also got our Staff badges, awards and staff scarfs during dinner.
Then, from Thursday to Sunday, the World Scout Committee stayed for meetings at the Centre. So everything had to be perfect for around 50 very important people coming from all around the world, including the vice-president of the Philippines!
But now, winter is over, which means that the snow is melting and that new Shorties have arrived for the Spring season. As they have their training sessions all week long, four of us are still here as Helpers to help running the Centre during this week. So now, we are dressed in green instead of pink and we moved from the Staff Room to the Dutch room. But the rest hasn't changed much - life at the Centre remains equally as fun as before.
I really had the time of my life here at KISC and I will fully enjoy every moment of my last days in Kandersteg.
