Hey There, I’m Alex from Canada and will be the Shop Manager for Summer 2011! Expect lots of cool and fashionable souvenirs! I enjoy drinking all types of tea, knitting (now that Riikka is teaching me) and going hiking/swimming and exploring Switzerland! This is my third time back at KISC, and I’m enjoying it every bit as much! There’s lots of amazing stuff going on this summer, including groups visiting before/after the jamboree, so come live the dream this summer! It’s going to be great!

Gia Hara! I am Alexandros from Greece and I feel happy and lucky to have the opportunity to work here at KISC, together with the rest of the Staff from around the world! You should also come and live the Dream together with us!
bia (br) - spring 2011
Olá! My name is Beatriz, but you can call me 'Bia'. I am from Brazil, so I can say I am not used to all the snow. I like to dance, watch movies and talk. But sometimes, I like to sit in a quiet place and read a good book. I am sure I am going to have loads of new experiences in my new pink shirt!
conny (NL) - marketing manager
I'm Conny from the Netherlands. Together with Lou I am responsible for the website, newsletters, brochures, and a lot of other marketing activities. I love the wonderful mixture of living in a small Alpine village and working together with the international staff here at KISC.
dato (GE) - house assistant
Magesalmebit! I'm Dato from Georgia and I'm the House Assistant. I'm also known as the babe-magnet. In my free time I practise my dance choreography in front of the mirror and hang out with my German buddy. Now that it is Spring I am looking forward to the swimming pool opening and making flips from the divingboard.
eliane (CH) - catering supervisor
Grüssech, I'm the Swiss Catering Supervisor working part-time at the Centre. In the rest of my time I work as a teacher in the nearby town of Spiez. After all that, when I can find the time, I love to go skiing, climbing and enjoy a nice massage.

Hey there! I'm Felix from the UK. I enjoy being out in the mountains, generally bouncing for this reason I have the nickname "Bambi".
jack (uk) - reception assistant
Hi my name is Jack and I’m from London, UK. I like being outside, especially when the sun is shining! I intend to climb as many mountains as possible around here, I’m ticking them off as I go. I’m really enjoying being back on the reception, so I’ll see you when you arrive!!!

jeanette (SE) - spring 2011
Hi! I'm Jeanette from Sweden. My mission during my three months at KISC is to make everyone sing along while watching Mamma Mia, as well as having a great time together with all the awesome people I'm meeting here. Pink has already become my new favourite color and I'm looking forward to all the toilets I will deep clean during my Spring season. Come visit us and enjoy this fantastic place!
jenneke (NL) - house manager
Tall, Dutch, obsessed by geometrical folding system for beddings and really into juggling, Jenneke is our House Lady. The toilets aren't clean? You can complain to her. There's no toilet paper? You can complain to her. Missing a pillow in your room? You can complain to her. When not at work she loves deep frying stuff - mainly Dutch bitterballen - for Michael and listening to Baywatch-ish music from the 90s. Jenneke doesn't like IKEA shopping, loosing her Swiffer, Lady Gaga's Bad Romance and Olave.
jens (ie) - operational director
My name's Jens and I'm Operational Director. I look after the operations of KISC and in my free time I try and climb, ski, hike and enjoy the nightlife in Kandersteg. I was STS in Summer 2004, Campsite Manager in 2005, 2007 Project Director in 2006/07 and Internal Services Director in 2008/09/10. I come from Dublin in Ireland were I am part of the 47th Dublin (Ballybrack) Scout group.
jesse (ca) - spring 2011
Whilst hoping to become a famous vegetarian philosopher or athlete, Jesse signed up for a Short Term season at KISC where he's now known as "The Cutie". He enjoys visiting the library and bookshops where he secretly adds his memoirs (so far) to the biography shelf just in between Lady D. and Winston Churchill. As well in his free time Jesse likes eating giant swirly red and green lollipops and collecting Polish stamps. The Cutie doesn't like soap bubbles (as he gets dizzy by their translucent consistency) and Post Its (he is allergic)!
kike (es) - high adventure assistant
Hola! My name is Kike and I’m one of the three 'Spanish Invaders' at KISC. I’m also the High Adventure Assistant so if you want to go hiking, climbing or any other activity around this mountains I’m always ready to advise you. I like to check the weather forecast all the time…mmmm.. oh sorry - a big storm is approaching! See you this summer!!!
Lara (us) - international friendship assistant
Howdy Ya’ll! My name is Lara and I am the new International Friendship Assistant here at Kandersteg! Since I’m from Texas, I’m fascinated with all the snow that has fallen here. But, let me warn you, snow is colder and wetter than in the movies. And snow can be slippery, as I keep finding out. Right now, I am trying to teach the other Staff members about Texas culture, so hopefully by the end of the season, you will hear other Pinkies using the phrase “Howdy Ya’ll” and watching College Football (American) with me. A girl can dream right?
Laura (UK) - eco adventure assistant
Hi, My name is Laura and I`m the Eco-Adventure Assistant at KISC. I run the environmental activities at the Centre and also look after the Upper Hut. When I`m not working I enjoy hiking and climbing in the mountains and also sitting in the sun and eating cake!
lou (IT) - pr & Marketing assistant
When not busy working on the Annual Report, Photoshop-ing people and stuff around or being very late in writing the latest news (yeah... she is the one to be blamed!), Lou enjoys attempting growing vegetables and herbs, looking after her cactus named "Tim", peeling oranges, cooking broccoli soup and playing scrabble. Also she is currently working on a re-make of a famous Leslie Gore song, that she retitled "Sunshine, Cherry and Goldfish".
magdaléna (CZ) - guest services director
Ahoj! I am Magdaléna from Prague, Czech Republic. Being the Guest Services Director, I work to ensure that all the guests enjoy their stay and have wonderful time at KISC. In my free time I love to go skiing and cross-country skiing, hiking, watching movies, reading books or having a nice cup of tea.
matt (UK) - assistant programme director
Hello, my name is History Boy! Why, mainly because I like history, but also because... well I don't know really, that's in the past anyway. I like pretending to ski, putting people into large fabric bags, practicing my Scottish accent and sharpening the pencils in Reception. I'm starting to work on my beanie collection so I can restore the Programme Department to its former glory!
michael (DE) - maintenance assistant
You can spot him around the Chalet fixing something, organizing the recycling or replacing light bulbs most of the time. In his free time he loves having sandwich parties, watching Legally Blond and trimming his mohawk.
myriam (CH) - general director
Hejo! As the General Director, I am the one who takes overall responsibility for the whole KISC businesses. From the deepest of my heart I support the dream of international friendship, among all people being present at the Centre. Originally Swiss I have some language capabilities that are quit useful here: I speak Swiss German, French and English and understand Italian and a few words of Russian. If I’m not working I love hiking and knitting, both whilst singing.
Pol (lu) - spring 2011
Aloha! I'm Pol from Luxembourg. When I'm not breaking stuff during deep cleaning, I'm totally pulling off my new pink look while riding on my unicorn through the Swiss Alps, hunting down monstrous mountain squirrels with my bare hands! If I get bored of this (which happens quite often - mountain squirrels don't stand a chance against me!), I rub myself in lard, transform into a sea lion and go for a swim in the Kander... just the regular stuff. Apart from that I like to have a laugh with the other Pinkies and marvel at the beautiful alpine landscape.
Raquel (ES) - House Assistant
As B.-P. said: "Clean the Dream!" I'm Raquel from Spain. I need everything to be neat and tidy under my feet at KISC, I hate smelly toilets and dirty socks which appear under the beds. I love mountains around Kandersteg, climbing, cicling... As part of the 'Spanish Invasion Team' here I love siestas every days to feel better.
riikka (Fi) - programme admin. assistant
Hei, I’m Riikka from Finland. I like eating lactose free yogurt, knitting and baking some finnish bread whenever possible. On my days off I like to escape to discover the mountains, that’s always good fun!
robert (de) - caterer
My middle name is 'The Soup Genius', so Robert The Soup Genius Schön - servus! I come from Bavaria but no, I do not wear Lederhosen neither Brezen as bracelets. I like heavy metal and punk music, Sauerkraut and all Ginger Rogers and Fred Astairs tip-tap movies. When there's a water fight going on here at KISC I love to take part using the leftover Knödeln. In my free time I like to do sport and be on the mountains.
Salla (fi) - campsite manager
Not too long ago I found out that Finland is not part of Scandinavia anymore, shocking! Now being busy with reminding people that it’s actually Nordic instead, I still have time to make weird sound effects, be generally not the most typical Finn, preach about recycling, enjoy mountains and everything outdoorsy – even the rainiest days at the campsite. P.S. - The green cuddly monster from Cut The Rope is heartbreakingly cute.
sam (uk) - grounds assistant
Hello, My name is Sam and I'm from Liverpool in the UK. I first came to KISC in the summer of 2010 with my Scout group from Lydiate. We had a fantastic time and I would recommend it to everyone. I started working here at KISC, in October 2010, as a Helper in the Arabian Suite renovation. Since then, I have been a member of the Short Term Staff team for Winter and now I'm KISC's new Grounds Assistant. All the time I've spent in Kandersteg I have thoroughly enjoyed and I can't wait to start working on the Campsite preparing for summer.
sean (us) - spring 2011
I'm Sean from the U.S. of A! These "super cool" pink shirts really bring out the colour in my eyes. When I'm not wrestling feral children in the Higgeldy Piggeldy Wood I enjoy writing sonnets and haikus about the adventures of Tom and Olave. I miss my big, dirty, black Ford truck back home that makes Chloe and Leena look like a Prius.
sergio (es) - spring 2011
Hola! I'm Sergio from Spain. I fell in love with this place during the Spanish Work Party of October 2010 and here I am, living the dream! I'm a fanatic about climbing and hiking, for me this is a paradise! I have an obligation to learn to ski (and of course do some climbing). Also I like photography, so you will probably see me behind a camera, maybe that's why I usually don't come out in the photos!
susi (ch) - administration assistant
Heiii Schmützli zäme, my name is Schmusi-Susi and I'm from Switzerland, downtown Walenstadt. I work as Administration Assistant at the Centre, but in all honesty I do much more than checking bills and filing papers! In fact I'm also the official KISC gossip go-through girl, part-time radio gangsta music assistant and finally I keep everyone on the phone longer than necessary with my "Tschüss, Ciao, Tschüss, Tschüss, Tschüss, Ciao, Ciao, Tschüss..."
tom (ie) - programme director
I come from the West of Ireland and I’m the Programme Director at KISC. My job involves making sure our Guests can do cool activities while they are here. If you’re looking for me around the Centre then look for the guy with the beard, beanie and iPhone. You can also find me on the KISC Twitter and Facebook Page.
Vanya (BG) - Catering Assistant
Hi, I am Vanya form Bulgaria! I like reading, dancing with friends and cuddling my lovely cat Frederik.
wing hung (hk) - spring 2011
Hihi! I 'm Wing Hung from Hong Kong. I'm glad to be a Pinkie! As a city girl but an outdoor one, it is wonderful that there is such beautiful nature.
As an Asian, it is a nice place to discover others' cultures through this Permanent Mini-Jamboree. As a little-bit shy lady, I am never afraid of dead air here, as people around will keep on welcoming you to join them. Let's share the excellent experience!
