dylan (AU) - guest services director
G’day, I’m Dylan! I’m the Guest Services Director here at KISC and I come from the magical land of Australia. It’s just like Austria, except with more letters. And kangaroos. And beaches. And more Sydney Opera Houses. Actually, it’s very different to Austria. If you’re interested in hearing more about the differences between Australia and Austria, you might find me around the office, or hopefully out and about making new friends and exploring the beautiful scenery around Kandersteg. See ya soon!
Andreea (RO) - Autumn 2016
Bună! I'm Andreea, the pink fluffy unicorns lover! This autumn I left my cozy home in Transylvania, Romania, and came to KISC to live one of the greatest adventures of my life as a Short Term Staff. My favourite things here at KISC are pink, hiking, evening walks in the beautiful village of Kandersteg, get lost in the forest near the center, the dishwasher and hide from Olave (that I am really scared of). If you are visiting KISC and you hear “Unicorns I love them” more than 5 times in a row, that’s me!
anna (FI) - staff development director
Moromoi, I’m Anna from Finland! When I’m not busy eating dog food, I enjoy working and spending time with my beautiful fellow Pinkies. I was a short termer in 2008, after which I have worked in Catering, Programme and Campsite. Now I’m back to take care of the most valuable thing at KISC: the staff! On my days off I like to enjoy the mountains around me and practice my high altitude napping skills.
Erling (NO) - Internal Services Director
Hello there! I am Erling from Norway, and I am the Internal Services Director here at KISC. You could basically find me everywhere looking after the infrastructure, outdoor property and other internal services here. In my time off I like to be out doing fun things like hiking or skiing in these beautiful surroundings of Kandersteg.
Anna (NL) - Autumn 2016
Hallo, hejsan, Hello! My name is Anna and I come from the Netherlands but I'm actually only half Dutch. My other half is Swedish. My parents took the international friendship very seriously when they met eachother here at Kisc, so I'm a real KISC-baby. On my time off you will proberly find me napping somewhere or having a Glee party in the staffroom. I really love Sweden and everything that comes with it. So if you want to talk about ABBA, knäckebröd or IKEA furniture, just come find me. ( From time to time I also give out some Dutch stroopwafels).
Oscar (SE) - assistant programme director
HellO! My name is Oscar, and I´m your normal non-friendly, boring, depressive swedish person. When I´m not busy doing unfun and non impressive stuff, I usually spend my time in the mountains doing either hiking, climbing or skiing. I also very much enjoy boardgames of different kinds, and tee, lots and lots of tee. Also, I´m normally quite fun-friendly.
NinnA (DK) - house Manager
Halløj, My name is Ninna, and I come from the flat flat Denmark. I am very happy to again be surrounded by the mighty mountains here in Kandersteg! I have taken up the challenge to be House manager here at KISC, and I`m very excited about it! On my days off I like to go exploring, if it`s going on a hike or going to one of the bigger cities and see what they have to offer. I also like to just have a relaxing day once in a while with a good movie. Its just amazing to be back here at KISC!
Daniel (TW) - Autumn 2016
Hi !你好. l am Daniel阮俊霖 form Taiwan. I am very happy that i got the chance to come and work here. I always remember my scout leader who was the summer pinkie in 2007 , told me how magic the life here. I kept those stories and made my effort to be a pinkie. I am a pinkie now. My dream has come true. My English is not good, so I always use my smile to show that I’m a warm and friendly person. I’ll do my best and enjoy the life here.
Chris (MT) – caterer
X’għandna? My name is Chris and I come from the mystical faraway land of Malta. I’ve swapped the beaches and sunshine for the steamy kitchen air for a year, and loving it! When not ruling my kingdom with a wooden spoon or taking a trip to the freezer, you’ll generally find me outside, hiking or cycling up some mountain. If you want to get on my good side, don’t place any bits in the bobs drawer. Ever. Or just make up for it by cooking something tasty and onion-free.
Cecilia (DK) - Autumn 2016
Hi! I’m Cecilie and I come from the lovely Scandinavian country of Denmark. Being the smart-pants, I am always ready to give you loads of advice and fun facts, you won’t ever need. If you actually do need advise, however, I should also be the go-to person. I am a geek, a nerd, and a dork all at once (hurray) and I seem to have a tendency to be very awful at first impressions. My greatest interests: Scouting, Football and Reading.
albin (SE) - Reception Assistant
Albin is this supercool Swedish guy who likes bananas and mushrooms. He also likes to go to IKEA and eat nuggets. When Albin is not in pink he teaches people to ski or he is sending new song ideas to Blue Swede. Albin’s first school essay was about butt and he is always up for an adventure. If you want to know more about IKEA history or IKEA furniture, come find Albin and he will help you pick out the best Billy-Bookshelf.
arnor (IS) - programme administration Manager
Arnór was an STS in summer 2014 and Snow&Ice guide in 2015. He enjoys Wes Anderson movies, biology, melancholic music, beer and nice woolen sweaters. You will either find him dancing on tables or eating stinky fish in the staff room. Even though Arnór is from Iceland he can’t ski or skate, so be nice to him. As a reward, he might teach you how to “bottom shoe.”
Ginger (CH) - The lone ranger
Meow! I am Ginger (CH) and here at the Centre I have many positions. I am the Campsite Cat during the Summer and right now you can find me in the warm shelters of Hotel Crystal, or Chalet Over There, turning our Danish male Staff into softies! You may think I have gained some weight over Winter, but I assure you this is just my Winter coat. I still remain active doing some snow hunting every day. Unlike those lazy Centre cats...
FELIPE (BR) - DIRECTOR
Olá, My name is Felipe (aka FlipFlop) and I am the Director here at the World Scout Centre. I love this village and the mountains that surround it. KISC gives me the opportunity to meet Scouts from all over the world, and everyday I learn something new. On my days off you will find me skiing, climbing, mountain biking, slacklining or practicing some capoeira moves. Back in Brazil I was a leader at 1o Grupo Escoteiro São Paulo.
Linnea (SE) - Autumn 2016
Hejsan! My name is Linnea and I come from The lovely south of Sweden. When I'm not thinking about cats, eating vegan candy and wearing punk, I enjoy writing, asking normal to weird questions and finding out stuff with the help of Google and Wikipedia. At KISC my favorit duties are disinfecting stuff in the kitchen, driving the tractor Chloe and folding sheets in the basement. Quite often I sing, ugly dance and say weird stuff. I hate tea, love playing the guitar and my favorite place on the internet is Twitter.
James (CH) - office manager
Sälüü, this is James from Switzerland. As one of the few Swiss guys I have to ensure our bookkeeping and HR goes well so we make sure that people get to live the dream. In my free time I love travelling through Switzerland and the World to meet friends and also to make new ones.
Ana (ES) - house assistant
Hola!! My name is Ana and I come from the beautiful and big Barcelona in Spain! I was STS in Summer 2016 (which was pretty amazing) and after a few days at home I will be House Assistant for three months! Prepare yourselves for crazy dancing parties, loud music and loads of fun while making the dream shine and sparkly!
Niall (IE) - maintenance manager
Hi! I’m Nial from the mighty wee country called Ireland! I am the new Maintenance Manager, so all this is new to me, so don’t worry about being nervous coming here we are all on the same boat.I am a nice and friendly guy but you may find it hard to understand me but I have my own personal translator called as Arnor! One other thing is that you will find out when you arrive here is that as we say back in Ireland “you would never beat the Irish”!
lieveke (nl) - programme director
Hi, I’m Lieveke from the Netherlands. As I absolutely love the mountains and sadly we don’t have any in the Netherlands, I keep on coming back to KISC. When I’m not organising the many activities here at the Centre, I like to hike to one of the many mountain huts and sample the different cakes or go skiing and drink lots of hot chocolate.
Karin (CH) - Catering Supervisor
Hi guys, I'm Karin from Switzerland, the Catering Supervisor at KISC. Being from Switzerland, my specialties in Catering are Raclette and Chees Fondue - you should try them whenever you get the chance! Normally I'm busy sitting in my office, sorting out orders for the coming days and establishing a catering plan.
Siobhán (uk) - reception manager
Wassup I’m Siobhán from the UK. Hailing from the big smoke, London to be specific, I am partial to a strong cup of tea. I am often complimented for my super professional, clear and elegant Queen’s English accent and practice my passion, office ping pong, when possible. Having been Reception Manager for 1 year now (!) I would like to believe that I rule the front office with an iron fist. But the reality is that our office cat Von Bon can reduce me to a googly mess. If you want to get on my good side provide me with an abundance of dairy milk/galaxy chocolate or cool stationary.
PEPe (ES) - grounds manager
Hola! My name is Pepe and I come from the always sunny Murcia, in the south-east corner of Spain. I’m having and amazing place here in the most beautiful place in the Swiss Alps. You can find me going in and out of the campsite and trying to maintain the work parties working instead of staring at the amazing views around us. If you’re bored I would love to teach you some spanish words, spanish songs or even better: spanish food!
markus (DK) - Autumn 2016
Hej og goddag from the beautiful settings of KISC! My name is Markus and I'm from the flat country of the north called Denmark. Denmark is known for HC. Andersen, Danish design and people who speak with potatoes in their throats. But not only do I have a potato in my throat, I also have potatoes in my stomach, which is because potatoes definitely are my favorite kind of food. One of my passions in life is to hike. I have hiked a lot around the world, and one of the most beautiful places I've ever hiked is near Kandersteg. I also love the sounds machines makes, to draw and a good cup of coffee. If you want a fun conversation just let me know!
Olave (CH) - Secret Centre Overlord
Hi fans, it's me Olave, Secret Centre Overlord of KISC and cutest cat around, loved by few, adored by many. Yet again, I hacked myself into the KISC computer systems to create my own entry on their website. This all as part of honing my cyber warfare skills to take my world domination plans to the 21st century! Puny humans! I also use this opportunity to revoke all previous current Staff descriptions about me: I suspect the PR & Marketing Assistant to have hi-jacked my account to write in my name. So just for the record, I haven't turned to poetry and my lust for power is as unsatisfied as ever. The past few months, while the Centre humans were busy cleaning up after Summer, I built a submarine fleet in Oeschinensee, ready to strike at any time and occupy all positions at KISC with fellow felines (excluding Ginger!). As a first symbol of my wrath I destroyed the cardboard tank, the silly Reception Manager built for me over last Summer, and started retreating to my underground base beneath the coke machine again. But I need to move quickly now, I fear that the canine from Hotel Crystal, "Codename: Bari" is onto my plans and previous efforts to silence him haven't worked. So long, humans!
João (PT) - Autumn 2016
Olá! I’m João from Portugal! I really love the mountains around Kandersteg and I think that is the best place ever to scouting! When I have free time you can see me hiking and if you want to discover all the places in the mountains and valleys around as I want just come to live the dream as I did! I really like to talk with everyone and I want to see everyone around me happy and smiling even when I’m sad :) I’m stilll waiting for the letter inviting me to join Hogwarts but while I’m wanting I’m bracing myself because winter is coming and the night watch in KISC can not stop their demand!!!!!
katarina (sk) - pr & marketing assistant
Ahoj! My heart beats in the middle of Europe- in Slovakia. I'm a Minion lover, who likes the smell of sleeping bag and nature after rain, quitar sessions around campfire with people who can't actually sing, parking tractor with the trailer, wet and wild dancing, the sound of bicycle wheels, photoshophing, posting statuses and PRomoting the most beautiful place on the earth .... and opening presents!
Monika (LT) - Administration and Finance Assistant
Labas! I am Monika from a small country in the middle of Europe (at least we claim that) – Lithuania. At the moment I spend my best days here, at KISC! Usually you can find me in the admin office between the mountains of folders and piles of papers. All the other time I will be walking outside and enjoying Alps, reading a book in a cozy spot or learning how to sky (mission (im)possible).
dario (CO) - Autumn 2016
Ahoy, Dario at your service and help. I'm a 19 year's old bunch of massive things and thoughts that reached Kandersteg full of hope and courage, with lot of expectatives and music in my heart. Now I'm a Pinkie working to make a better Center and a amazing experience for every person that stays here. Here I am to learn and to teach, to love all and to serve all,to be a friend in times of necessity and hold your back every moment of our life's. Brace your selves, I am here.
katie (UK) - Autumn 2016
Hey there! I'm Katie from the UK and I help run a guide unit in the south of England. I first visited KISC as an Explorer Scout many years ago and am finding it incredible how familiar this place feels. The mountains definitely haven't changed at least! Back home in England Im a rock climbing instructor, maths tutor and harpist. Here at my new Swiss home I am a window cleaning perfectionist, vegetable steaming enthusiast and check-in extraudineer! I can't wait to show everyone at homemy new sheer holding the techniques, I know my mum will be very proud of me. It's been awesome getting to know my Pinkie family so far, and I'm looking forward to the next 10 weeks living the dream at KISC!
lisa (SE) - programme development assistant
Hej, Hejsan and Hallojsan! I’m Lisa from the happy, singing Sweden. If I’m not sitting on my chair in the front office or talking to guest at the counter, I’m probably out somewhere on the campsite preparing for an amazing campfire or preparing other exciting activities. When I’m not sitting on my chair, at the counter or out on the campsite I’m probably off. When I’m off you will probably find me crusing down a slope, hiking around in the mountains or planning exciting adventures. Hope to see you here at KISC!
Von Bon (CH) - Feline queen
Halloo, I am the new kitten in the Centre, I love attention, but to those who deny it to me, I will demand it from them. I am well aware of my irresistable charm and my beauty that makes me easy on everyone's eyes. I enjoy my meowing to everyone, so do not take it personal, it is either me trying to bond with a human, or my litter bin is full or in worst cases, I am starving! So far I have somehow stolen everyone’s attention from the Feline Overlord, Olave and directing it to myself and I think I might even start a page on Facebook.
sophie (UK) - Catering Assistant
Hey! I’m Sophie and I come from the big smoke known as London in the UK. I was a shortie in Winter 2016 and couldnt get enough of the beauty that is KISC, so now I’m back as a Catering Assitant. I love cooking up new and exciting dishes for hungry staff and guests. When I’m not cooking up a storm in the kitchen you might find me hiking or attempting some climbing in these awsome Alps that are our backgarden!
