Dear friends,
How were your first 23 days of 2016? We hope that you stepped into the New Year with an enthusiasm and an eagerness to make this a Better World through Scouting!

Our 23 days of 2016 were busy, but filled with joy and thankful guests! Our Pinkies and Helpers prepared an amazing New Year’s Eve celebration, made sure that 29 International Rover Week participants had a time of their lives and hosted about 300 members of BSA for Klondike. While I’m writing this, the Pinkies are preparing for the arrival of a group of BSA Cub Scouts for their annual snow adventure camp. What more happened? Continue reading...

A special family Christmas

The Baines Family visits Kandersteg every Christmas. They began visiting KISC for over 40 years ago, when they themselves were Scouts. Their children both learnt to ski when they were two and a half years old in Kandersteg and Joshua, the eldest, took his first steps at a year old in the Old Chalet. For the Baines Family it was another truly memorable Christmas: Jacob Baines, the youngest son, achieved the highest youth member award in Scouting – the Queen’s Scout Award. It is awarded for outstanding personal achievement, leadership, many hours of service and for much more. We congratulate Jacob on this excellent achievement and hope he enjoyed the rare honour of a surprise presentation of his Queen's Scout certificate during their Christmas break at KISC.

International Rover Week 2015: Winter edition

Friendships created, lifetime memories made, Permanent Mini Jamboree feeling experienced... International Rover Week mission completed!
For 29 Rovers from 13 different countries were the last days of 2015 at KISC a cherry on the cake of the whole year - hiking up the snowy alps, sharing songs during the campfire and celebrating the New Year together! We hope that all the participants brought home a big backpack full of great memories and new friendships!

“This week holds a special place in my heart and it contains memories that I will always cherish and won’t soon forget.” - Ben DeRemer, the participant of Winter IRW 2015

Ultimate Natural Ice Skate Rink

19 years had to pass for people in Switzerland to once again enjoy the natural miracle of snow-free ice on Oeschinensee here in Kandersteg. The breathtaking surroundings with high mountain walls make this natural ice skating rink one of the most impressive in the world.  We believe this ice skating at Oeschinensee was an experience of a lifetime for our guests, staff and IRW participants alike. Because who knows when this will be possible again? In three, five or maybe 25 years?

Closer to the Dream

Two Yorkshire Scout groups are one step closer to their dream of having a once-in-a-lifetime scout camp here at KISC! 25 Scouts took part in a sponsored aircraft wash at the hangar to help raise much-needed funds for their trip in July. Realizing how much effort groups go to in order to ensure they are able to visit KISC continues to stun us! We're crossing our fingers and hoping that we will see each other in July! See the video here.

Staff Opportunities on events 2016

We are still looking for people to represent KISC on upcoming international events in 2016. We need the Ex-Pinkies to help us at the KISC stand and run activities at the Roverway in France, Central European Jamboree in Poland and Roihu in Finland. If you are interested, please fill this form or write at until 31st January.
