Snow & Ice Helpers Summer 2008

We're starting to plan our Snow & Ice Programme and require some enthusiastic Ex-Staff to be Snow & Ice Helpers. If you have experience with snow, ice or of travelling on glaciers and think that you'd be able to teach these skills to Scouts then this is your chance. The dates are from the 6th July until the 30th August. If the dates are not suitable then please apply stating availability.

As a Snow & Ice Helper you will receive the following benefits:

  • Shared accommodation
  • SFr. 500 travel reimbursement (partly via the ESVP)
  • All meals, both while at work and on days off
  • 1 Day Off & 1 Staff Night Out per week
  • Full accident insurance cover (you need your own insurance for equipment and health)
  • Use of the Centre's lift passes, subject to availability
  • Appropriate Staff Training (recaps)
  • A great time in a unique place

Responsibilities of Snow & Ice Helpers:

  • Provide Snow & Ice (and if needed Climbing) Activities to Guests
  • Do Duty for special events such as August 1st and Summer Christmas
  • Required to help around the Centre where needed
  • Help with August 1st
  • For more information on Snow & Ice Activities please see KanderActive 2009 or the KISC website.

If you are interested please send an email to Tom Sweeney (IE) by the 15th February stating:

SUpporters weekend May 2009

The aim is to bring together our current supporters and future supporters to show them more about the Centre and together work on how
to promote the Centre in the future!   We also hope to have fun and learn from each other, while it's a chance to meet some new people with similar interests.
We hope that after the weekend we can improve our actual network of Supporters that will help with the promotion of KISC in their own countries. This could be done by writing articles, attending events, spreading the word, organizing Work Parties, etc. The weekend is for new and old
supporters to come together, learn how to do this, exchange ideas and create plans for how to raise awareness of KISC in the future.

Do you want to be a Supporter of KISC? More info you find in the invitation document underneath (and the Registration Form) or by contacting the PR & Marketing Assistant.

Vacancies

Just a quick reminder that the deadline for the Summer Long Term Staff positions is January 15th, 2009.

More info on the available vacancies you can find here.

You have time to send me your application until Sunday 18th January 2009!

High Season Staff

In 2008 we introduced the 'Short' Short Term Staff positions over the peak of the summer season. We are very happy with the way this worked and like to give it a more permanent base in 2009.

As the term SSTS caused confusion we have now renamed it to High Season Staff but the principle stays the same.

As High Season Staff you will receive the following benefits:

  • Shared accommodation
  • SFr. 500 travel reimbursement (partly via the ESVP)
  • All meals, both while at work and on days off
  • 1 Day Off and 1 Staff Night Out per week
  • Full accident insurance cover (you need your own insurance for equipment and health)
  • Use of the Centre's lift passes, subject to availability
  • Appropriate Staff Training recaps

Responsibilities of High Season Staff:

  • 3 HHS will work in Programme (all aspects) and 3 HSS will work in Guest Services (Shop, Catering, House, Campsite)
  • Do Duty for special events such as August 1st and Summer Christmas
  • Required to help around the Centre where needed
  • Help with August 1st

At the moment we are looking for 6 HSS for the summer of 2009 from 6th July 2009 for 6 weeks. If you are interested please send an email to Tom Sweeney by 31st March 2009 stating:

  • Name
  • Date of Birth
  • Season(s) worked
  • Postal Address
  • Relevant experience

We are looking forward to your applications!

Work Parties

When you do not have so much time available as requested above you can always join one of the Work Parties this Spring.

The Dutch Work Party runs 2 weeks from 16th - 31st May 2009 and you can join either 1 week or both weeks. More info you can get by contacting Coen ten Brink (Ex-Staff).

The International Work Party runs from 24th-31st May 2009. More info you can get by contacting Simon & Jo Stickland (also Ex-Staff).

Or what about the Spanish Work Party? They will run a week from 25th April - 3rd May 2009 and for contact details please contact Jens Sheeran.

So that was it for this time!

Of course I assume you have pencilled the dates for the Ex-Staff Reunion already in your agenda. Tati is working hard on preparing the Time Out 2008 to be released in March 2009.
