Work Party time!
Work Parties are another old tradition at the Centre. Since the first Work Party in 1925, many Scouts have decided to donate part of their holidays to the "Permanent Mini-Jamboree" and come to the Centre to help with large infrastructure and maintenance projects. This happens normally twice a year, in Spring and Autumn, when lots of work needs to be done in relation to the Summer season.
The first to show up this Spring was the Spanish Work Party (also known as Equipo Ñ), formed by Scouts from different associations and regions of Spain plus Latin American Scouts. Just a couple of days later, the UK Fellowship Work Party arrived and brought with them an unexpected snowfall that made Kandersteg again as white as it was during Winter.
They eventually departed and the new Czech Republick Work Party arrived to continue their work. The Centre also got two presents from the Czech Scouts (photo) that are now in display in the Old Main Hall.
Last week, the Dutch Work Party (the oldest of all) arrived at KISC once again with their chainsaws, ready to cut trees down and help keeping our grounds at its best. A second Dutch Work Party will continue their work during this week and they will be also joined by the International Work Party, formed by Scouts and Guides from all around the World and organised once again by our good friends Jo & Simon Stickland.
Are you interested in joining one of this Work Parties? They are already looking for more enthusiastic members to join them this Autumn and you can find all the related information here.
We are looking forward to welcome you with one of this Work Parties too!
