Just after the School Day and before the arrival of Pack 130 of Boy Scouts of America with 180 enthusiastic childen and adults, the Pinkies got the chance to get away from the Centre, cross the mountains (by car, obviously) and join the staff of Our Chalet, the Girl Guides World Centre, for an afternoon of games and skiing at the famous ski station of Adelboden. It was followed by a visit at Our Chalet with a tour and a nice meal.
In the meantime, our cat Olive decided to get sick and spent lots of hours trying to get cuddle indoors, jumping one desk to the other. Fortunately she is a lot better now and outside - where she belongs.
Ski Weeks #6 and #7 had a lot more of adults rather than childen and gave our Ski Guides the chance to meet scouts from Malta, Denmark, Ireland and the UK and share with them ski lifts, meals, chats, buses, trains and fondeus. In th meantime, members of the Long Term Staff finished their Management Training Course and the Senior Management Team got the chance to have a full-day meeting and think about the years to come.
We had to wave goodbye to Kerstin (DE) and Katey (IE), Project Manager and Programme Development Assistant, and wish them the best of luck! Almost at the same time, members of Greenpeace working on the Jugend Solar Project visited us to take a look at our buildings and chat about what we can do together to better help the environment at the World Scout Centre. And our Administration staff was busy closing the financial year 2008!
Last but not least, on February 14th evening, the local ice hockey team KanderHaie beated Bönigen and won the 3rd Ice Hockey League of Central Switzerland - so they will be promoted to the 2nd League next year! Even though, most of our Pinkies were not there to cheer for them: many decided to go back to Adelboden and be there for their Saint Valentine's Day dance ball.
More news to come! Stay in touch with the World Scout Centre!
