Two ski weeks "at a glance"
Snow lovers will certainly fall in love with Kandersteg. Happens every December and around New Year, when hundreds of people arrive at this cozy alpine village for the holiday of a lifetime. It certainly does happen at KISC!
Christmas Eve in Kandersteg is welcoming guests with lights, street decoration, christmas trees, snowmen and tradition all around. Here at the Centre we did celebrate it with a very typical Swiss meal: Fondue Chinoise (meat fondue with bouillon) and a dessert buffet for all our guests, followed by a visit to the local Church for a traditional service with songs and a huge Xmas tree with real candles, for those who would like to attend along with the Staff. The very next day, the Tower was specially decorated to host the Christmas Day dinner, where the main dish was a roasted pig, pioneer-style cooked.
Right after Christmas we did triple the amount of guests and did welcome Scout & Guide groups from the UK, the Netherlands and Poland which kept our enthusiastic team of Ski Guides -as seen on the picture- entertained and happy during a fantastic Ski Week #1. Have you been out on activities guided by any of these Pinkies? Then this is your chance to leave them a nice comment at the end of this Latest News!
The peak of the week was, of course, the New Years Eve celebrations with a funny 70's themed disco - that even the members of rockband KISS didn't want to miss! All guests left us with happy faces -and exhausted!- after great days filled with skiing and sun... and fun evenings of sledding, igloo building and curling!
Right after we did receive the Andover District Scouts (UK), 1st Wadebridge Scouts (UK) and Renmore Scout Leaders (IE), and took them to the Alps right away for more snow fun! With them we did ski down the high slopes of Lauchernalp, crossed the legendary Gemmipass, and had Snow Adventure Days stuffed with sleds and snowshoes!
Even being that busy, the Staff did not hesitate to enjoy a dance "greek style" and have fun with a group of Scout leaders from Greece; all brave mediterraneans that were also not affraid to let their sleds run fast all the way through the Gemmipass!
