The Ghost Week
October is a great month to be at KISC. Outside it may be chilly, but it is the time to see autumn in the Alps at its best! Autumn is now fully underway and we are enjoying the landscape, the quieter life rhythm and all the sunny moments of the day.
You should really come and have look, but let me warn you: it is the "ghost" week in the village. During 'Märli Wochen' you may find yourself face to face with a white hanging ghost! If you do, don't panic, join in the game and check out how many ghosts are haunting Kandersteg! Even the famous Old Chalet ghost reappeared...
This week is going to be another great, busy week. In fact KISC is welcoming, along with the Old Chalet ghost, the Spanish Work Party and guests from the UK, the Netherlands, Italy, Iceland, Germany, Switzerland, Taiwan and the USA.
The Spanish Work Party is composed of 20 Scouts from all over Spain, who will stay with us the entire week. The Spanish Work Party, as well as a few other Work Parties, visits us twice a year and help us with a number of low season jobs. In the coming days they will work mainly in Grounds: clearing some campsites, racking leaves and stacking wood for winter. When not working these enthusiastic Scouts will help keep up moral with football matches, social evenings, cheese fondues and a few singing sessions. The Spanish Work Party will be followed by the Dutch Work Party who will join us next week to work hands on around the Centre for two weeks.
On the 'Arabian Front' the work on the internal and external wall is continuing,. Our Staff are building frames, filling them with insulation and covering them with boards. The electricity cables are also being putting in place. This work will keep our Staff busy in the coming days and, once done, will mean it is time to work on the ceiling.
Until next week,
