End of August News
A new week has just started, this morning despite the rain and the sprinkle of snow on the peaks. The Pinkies welcomed all our guests at the Flag Break on the Campsite. A total of 250 guests from the Netherlands, Ireland, Switzerland, USA, Spain, UK, Germany, Italy, Portugal, Malta and Poland are currently staying with us. Additionally to these guests we are happy to welcome ten Scouts for the Scout of the World discovery.
This will also be the last week of InCamp Programme... yes, Summer is really at its end! Sad but true, although we are not trying to think too much about it, so tonight we will enjoy a fantastic International Evening and BBQ.
For all those of you who missed out the news about our yearly BBQ project, this year KISC will donate all the income of the BBQ to the Operation One World. This project will offer financial assistance to Scouts who otherwise would not be able to participate in the 2011 World Scout Jamboree in Sweden. Last year instead money went towards developing Scouting in the favellas surrounding the city of Natal in Brazil. On this regard we are happy to inform you on further developments of this project in Brazil: the sum of 7.000 Reais is being applied on supporting the activities of the "Gruop Escoteiro Bom Samaritano" located in the Felipe Caramao's Favela in the surburbs of the city of Natal. The main aim it's to bring Scouting to children and adolescents living in very disadvantaged areas, and to live and experience Scouting as a way of changing things and building-up a future.
It is great to know such a big work is happening on the otherside of the world thanks to the support of all the Scouts and Guides which stayed at KISC last Summer.
As mentioned before we are now going through the last weeks of the season, this means that together with normal services and activities all the Pinkies are starting preparing for Autumn. As today deep cleaning week started in the kitchen and on campsite were toilets and shower blocks are being scrubbed and polished. Over the last days, many Pinkies captained by Michal (DE) our Maintenance Assistant are working on moving out all furniture and decoration from the Arabian Suite's rooms getting ready for the renovation! In the coming days it will be the walls and floors which will be entirely stripped down and redone. Last time the Arabian Suite, located on the second floor of the Old Chalet, was renovated in 1983. This project will run all through Autumn, we will update you on the progress made.
Stay tuned with our latest news!
