International Rover Week 2013 starts on Sunday, 14th July with a BBQ in the evening and is going to end on Wednesday, 24th July 2013. During your time at the permanent Mini-Jamboree, you will live together with the other participants in tents on the KISC Campsite. Tents as well as basic campsite equipment will be provided for you! During the 10-day event, you will spend one night away from the Campsite, in the Upper Hut or KISC's newest hut at Gfellalp. During the entire week, special Rover Week Helpers in Green will take care of you, ready tp answer any questions, help out with the programme and support you in planning activities on your free day. They'll also take part in all of the programme activities offered by the Centre and make sure you'll have the best possible experience in Kandersteg!
We put together a programme for every day of your stay to guarantee that you won't spend a single boring second during your time at the Centre. To ensure a most enjoyable experience, we've included suggestions for improvement from participants of previous Internation Rover Weeks. According to those suggestions, two bigger hikes will be offered, but you'll be able to choose a difficulty level that best suits your personal fitness while still offering a challenge! We also ask each participant to bring a speciality - be it food, beverages, a folkloristic dance etc. - from their home countries to KISC to take part in the International Evening during the event and share parts of their culture with the other Rovers. We would also like each participating Rover to come up with a game or other activity that is either typical for their region or that they think could be interesting to present to the other Rovers as there will be a day of workshops run by the participants for the participants!
We've allowed for enough free time for you to explore the valley around Kandersteg on your own and live your personal adventure! You are missing a climbing trip the laid out programme? Just use your free day and scale a rockface yourself! You need more rest after a hike? Why not just chill at Oeschinensee together with other fellow Rovers on a free morning? It's up to you! A few ideas on what to do a sunny day in Kandersteg can be found in our KanderActive 2013 activitiy brochure or in the Programme section of our website.
