Travelling by air
TRAVELLING BY AIR
Kandersteg is centrally located in Switzerland and is easy to reach from the major Swiss airports. Zurich (2hrs 30 mins by train) and Geneva (3hours 5 mins by train). Both airports have regular flights to hundreds of cities worldwide and have train stations inside the airport - for easy connections on to Kandersteg.
Basel Airport is also within easy reach of Kandersteg (2hrs 35mins by bus and train).
Milan Malpensa airport is also quite close - in Italy. Although it is not as well conected to KISC by public transport as the Swiss Airports.
By far the closest airport to KISC is small Bern-Belp airport (1hr 35mins by bus and train) just 60km from Kandersteg. The airport has flights to various European destinations with the Skyworks airline.
If you are travelling to KISC by air, then we can save you money on transfer costs from the airport to KISC. Either by arranging a coach transfer or through the discounted Scout Transfer Tickets with STC for Swiss train travel.
STC can also arrange group air travel from anywhere in the world, often at special group prices. For info see the STC factsheet.
Budget airlines and competition mean that travel by air is often the cheapest, quickest way to travel to KISC. However it also has the biggest carbon footprint and most impact on the environement compared to travel by train, bus or car.
It can be worth checking out other methods of transport such as train travel -they may be cheaper and quicker than you think. There are also less restrictions on luggage and fewer queues for security and check in.
