The decision was made, in 1994, to build an extension to the Chalet - the New Chalet. To make this project possible Swiss law made it necessary to set up the 'International Scout Centre Foundation, Kandersteg'. The Foundation is now the legal owner of our properties and are responsible for the investment and long-term development of the infrastructure of the Centre (while the Association is responsible for monitoring the operational running of the Centre).

The members of the Foundation Board are elected by the Committee of the KISC Association. Therefore, essentially the members of the Association still help to decide what happens on an infrastructural level at the Centre. The Foundation's role is to raise funds for larger scale projects focusing on improving the Centre's facilities for our guests.

Donations, of any amount, either to be used for a specific project or for general improvements, are more then welcomed by our Foundation. It is often possible to claim back taxes on donations made to a Foundation, such as ours.
