Work Parties
The aim of the Work Parties is to help the Staff of the Centre realise all kinds of projects as well as to assist us with general work, mostly on the Campsite.
The Work Parties are really appreciated by the Centre. They make it possible to keep up-to-date with projects and, every year, deliver many improvements for our Campsite guests.
Without the continuous help of the Work Parties we simply wouldn't have our current infrastructure and facilities. For instance, the Dutch Work Party (DWP) have been coming to Kandersteg every year for over 25 years and all over the Campsite you can find plaques showing the work they have done! For the past 6 years we have been supported by the International Work Party (IWP). And since 2008 we've welcomed the Spanish Work Party (ESWP) - joined by Scouts from Spain and Latinamerican countries as Argentina, Chile, Mexico and Ecuador- and the Eurotransit Work Party (ETWP) - with Scouts from Eastern and Western Europe.
Our Work Parties are open to Scouts and Guides of recognised National Scout or Guide Organisations (by WOSM or WAGGGS). You must be 18 years of age the day the Work Party starts. Each Work Party is organised differently with separate requirements.
For more information, please contact Jens(IE), our Operational Director (opdirector [at] kisc.ch).

AUTUMN 2009Dutch Work Party (DWP)
The DWP is a long-standing tradition here at the Centre. First started in 1985 they have helped the Centre, without interruption, since then with two Work Parties each year. Each year we are usually also helped by the Dutch Chainsaw Party. They help with large scale woodland management and with fire and building wood. The DWP also help us by training our grounds and maintenance Staff in the safe use of chainsaws.
The DWP is an activity that happens as part of the National Membership Activity Section of Scouting Nederland.

International Work Party (IWP)
The IWP is an ex-Staff initiative and is open to any former Staff member or guest. It's essentially for those who wish to be involved with the Centre once again but who do not have three months to spare to be on Staff. The IWP happens annually for one week in either Spring or Autumn and is made up of different people each time (always with some familiar faces!). The IWP works for the first part of the week on a project or several smaller tasks. They then spend the second half of their week as our guests - hiking, climbing, relaxing! During their entire stay the Centre provides all food and accommodation free of charge. It can be hard work, but it's always fun! And at the end of it you can return home knowing that you have given something back to KISC.
For more information on the IWP visit their website: www.kisc-iwp.info or contact the organisers at (josi [at] kisc-iwp.info). If you want to get involved, let them know sooner rather than later to avoid being disappointed!
THE SPANISH WORK PARTY (SWP)
Would you like to contribute to the future of the Scout Movement, meet new friends from all around the world and have a mini-holiday in Switzerland? From 2008, the Spanish Work Party - joined by both Spanish and Latinamerican Scouts living in Europe - visits Kandersteg twice a year (Autumn and Spring) to give a hand with maintenance and Centre projects. The idea is to work for the first half of the week and enjoy the beautiful Alps for a few days afterwards. Find out more about the SWP on http://swpkisc.blogspot.com . Interested? Contact swpkisc@gmail.com (swpkisc@gmail.com) to join!
