Supporters Networks
KISC relies on the support of volunteers all around the world to help spread the word about KISC and let as many Scouts and Guides find out and experience the World Scout Centre as possible.
Supporters Networks exist thanks to teams of individuals within a country. Right now we have formal networks in the UK (Kandersteg Supporters' Network) and the Netherlands (Kanderstam), as well as informal networks in Portugal, Belgium and Italy, among others. If you would like to start a network, or find out if work is being done in your country, please contact the PR and Marketing Assistant (pr[at]kisc.ch).
Network Objectives:
- Promote KISC to the members of the National Scout Organisations (NSOs)
- Promote our voluntary Staff programme
- Facilitate the exchange of ideas and knowledge between KISC and NSOs
- Attend National and Regional Events to represent KISC
- Write articles about the Centre for Association websites, magazines, newsletter, etc.
Members:
- Ex-Staff
- Leaders who have been guests at the Centre
- Young people interested in the Centre
- Friends / Supporters of KISC
- Any other members of NSOs
Supporters are invited to attended our annual Supporters' Weekend, where they have the chance to learn more about the Centre, meet other Supporters to exchange ideas and to create a country specific PR Plan with the PR & Marketing Assistant. If supporters are unable to attend the weekend, they can still work in close cooperation with KISC Staff.
The status of the Network (formal / informal) and working methods will be left to the team. The amount of work and commitment given varies between networks and individuals but usually no support is too small. Each Network should be based on voluntary work and be, as far as possible, self-financing. Working methods could include email and teleconferencing - with regular meetings in the country of an annual meetings during the KISC Supporters' Weekend.
Establishing a Network:
The best way to begin a Network is to attend one of our Supporters' Weekends. Alternativaly you can contact the PR & Marketing Assistant to begin the process directly find out if there are already active memebrs in your country.
What does the Network do?
The aim of the Network should be to assist the Centre in establishing, maintaining and building relationships with Association magazines / newsletters, websites, and contacts such as Communication Managers. Another great way of promoting the Centre is to represent KISC at events at national and regional level. Promotional materials, information and support is available from KISC for these activities.
Financial Support:
The Network will be, as far as possible, self-financing. However, in certain cases (such as for large events) financial support may be made available. This however needs to be discussed and agreed (on a case-by-case basis) prior to any spending directly with the PR & Marketing Assistant of the Centre.
KISC Support:
- All appropriate information regarding the Centre
- Promotional materials
- Names of Ex-Staff and Groups who can be contacted with regards to helping the Network in raising the Centres' profile
- Limited financial support on a case-by-case basis
- Direct and regular access to the PR & Marketing Assistant at KISC
