CATERER - re-advertised!
Location: Kandersteg, Switzerland
Duration: 12 months - longer contract can be discussed

Can you create healthy, balanced menus and take pride in serving good food? Can you ensure all the food is served on time and that the kitchen is clean, tidy and safe? Do you like to work with lots of people, in a fun, challenging environment? If so, and you are an experienced or eager cook, why not take the challange of feeding 12,000 Scouts in the next year!
The Caterer works closely with the Catering Supervisor (who holds the catering license and works one day a week) in the areas of administration, ordering, menu planning and hygiene policy. The Caterer is responsible for three Catering Assistant (one on a 9 or 12 month contract and two during summer on 4 months contracts) and manages the Short Term Staff assigned to Catering. The position requires organisational, planning and cooking skills, strong customer service and an attention to detail. For this job, it is desirable, but not necessary, to have previous experience as a member of Short Term Staff.

Administration Assistant
Location: Kandersteg, Switzerland
Duration: 12 months
Start Date: December 1st, 2010
Applications by: August 22nd, 2010Do you have experience in administration work or would you like to get a better understanding of this area? Are you comfortable handling big amounts of money in different currencies? Are you organised, like to assist others and can you work under pressure? Are you a native German speaker and can help with German communications and translations? Would you find it a challenge to support up to 70 members of Staff with all their administration? If so, we have the job for you, so join the Staff team in the World Scout Centre!
You would support the Senior Management Team, especially the Director, in all administrative areas of the Centre and the Association. This includes working with the Centres' finances and external correspondance with companies and the Community of Kandersteg. You would also be in charge of the shop when there is no Shop Manager (seven months of the year). For this job it is essential that you are fluent in German (spoken and written) and it is desirable, but not necessary, to have previous experience as a member of Short Term Staff.

Maintenance Assistant
Location: Kandersteg, Switzerland
Duration: 12 months
Start Date: December 1st, 2010
Deadline for Applications: August 22nd, 2010Are you creative, practical and enjoy working with your hands? Do you enjoy challenges and does the idea of completely renovating rooms under strict deadlines appeal to you? Could you use wood from our forest to create beds and other furniture? Do you like fixing things? Are you organised and like to work in a large Staff team? If so, join us here at the World Scout Centre and work for a year in our Internal Services Department!
You would be responsible for all the day to day repairs in all our buildings and be in charge of the Workshop. You need to be flexible and ready to repair anything, at any time. Experience in similar roles, or study or training in the area is necessary. For this job it is desirable, but not necessary, to have previous experience as a member of Short Term Staff. Interested? HOUSE MANAGER
Location: Kandersteg, Switzerland
Duration: 12 months
Start Date: December 1st, 2010
Deadline for Applications: August 22nd, 2010Are you highly organised and ready to welcome up to 200 guests in a day with a smile? Do you have training in or aspirations to work in the hotel business? Do you like to work hands-on in a busy, challenging environment? Are you ready to work in a large Staff team and manage a small team and four buildings? If so, this might be the right job for you! Join the World Scout Centre and welcome up to 12,000 Scouts and Guides from at least 40 different nationalities during the year (approx. 8,000 every summer!).
The House Manager works with two House Assistants (1 x 9 months and 1 x 4 months) and is responsible for the image of the Centre in terms of cleanliness, appearance and order. This includes taking care fo the different laundries, preparing bedrooms, assisting and co-organising special events and ensuring that all guests receive a warm welcome. The post of House Manager is for a period of 12 months, with the possibility of an extention. For this job it is desirable, but not necessary, to have previous experience as a member of Short Term Staff.
